2025 ANNUAL NEWSLETTER: Delivering Impact, Enhancing Livelihoods - COREDEVINI’s 2025 Journey of Empowerment
In 2025, CORE Development Initiative (COREDEVINI) deepened its commitment to empowering women, children, youth, and vulnerable communities across Nigeria. Through education, skills development, cooperative growth, and community advocacy, the organization delivered life-changing programs that strengthened livelihoods and inspired hope.
Strengthening Our Foundation Through Good Governance
COREDEVINI began the year by reinforcing its governance and accountability systems through strategic board meetings. These sessions helped set program priorities, review financial health, strengthen risk management policies, and guide partnership expansion. Strong leadership ensured transparency and alignment with COREDEVINI’s long-term mission of community-centered development.
A Message of Gratitude and Vision from the Executive Director
Reflecting on the year, the Executive Director expressed gratitude to partners, volunteers, board members, and community leaders who made the work possible. From school mentoring to women’s cooperatives, agricultural projects, and advocacy campaigns, COREDEVINI expanded its reach and impact. Strategic collaborations with ActionAid, NYSC members, development institutions, and grassroots leaders demonstrated the power of collective action.
The organization now steps into a new phase focused on stronger systems, wider reach, and deeper community roots continuing to champion education, women’s empowerment, and youth capacity building.

Empowering Women at the Grassroots
International Women’s Day – Accelerate Action
At the New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, COREDEVINI hosted empowerment sessions focused on:
- Financial capability
- Gender equality awareness
- Prevention of gender-based violence
As a result, 25 women joined the community cooperative, participating in savings groups and business discussions that support long-term economic resilience.
International Widow’s Day Support Campaign
Widows at the Sapphire Women Group received essential household items, clothing, and supplies. The initiative restored dignity and addressed economic hardship, reinforcing COREDEVINI’s commitment to inclusion and social protection.
EmpowerHer Sarina: Girls in Business and Internship Program
The EmpowerHer Sarina Project successfully completed Phase II training, with participants advancing into internships within real business environments. Girls gained skills in:
- Entrepreneurship
- Digital marketing
- Self-management
With support from board leadership, 14 girls formally registered their businesses, marking an important step toward financial independence and self-reliance.
Reaching Thousands Through Education and Mentorship
LEA School Mentoring Program
COREDEVINI’s weekly mentoring reached over 2,500 pupils across 26 primary schools in the FCT, onboarding five new schools in 2025. Sessions focused on:
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Leadership development
- Digital literacy
- Mental health awareness
- Personal safety and positive behavior
Sponsorship and School Fee Support Scheme
Beyond mentoring, over 50 vulnerable pupils received sponsorship, covering school fees, learning materials, and essential needs. Collaboration with education authorities ensured accountability and monitoring, helping children remain in school and thrive academically.
Youth in Action: International Youth Day 2025
Under the global theme “From Service to Sustainability: Inspiring Youth Action for Humanity and the SDGs,” COREDEVINI partnered with students from the National Open University of Nigeria to conduct outreach at Wasa IDP Camp.
More than 300 children benefited from:
- Textbooks and hygiene supplies
- Food and snacks
- Personal grooming services
Youth-led service demonstrated the impact of community engagement in advancing Sustainable Development Goals.
Agricultural Empowerment in Niger State
The Niger State Farming Project expanded into Magada and Luma/Kwaipi communities, forming three women-led farming groups:
- Magada A
- Magada B
- Luma Sapphire Women Group
These groups demonstrated a strong model for sustainable livelihoods, improving food security and income generation for rural women.
Growth of the Sapphire Women’s Cooperative
What started as a small support group at New Kuchingoro IDP Camp grew into a multi-community cooperative network spanning Abuja, Niger State, and Wasa IDP Camp.
Key achievements included:
- Stronger savings culture
- Interest-free loans for small businesses
- Investment in farming, trading, and children’s education
Members reported improved financial management, business expansion, and greater household stability.
Standing Against Gender-Based Violence
During the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, COREDEVINI led awareness campaigns under the theme “No Tolerance for Gender-Based Violence.”
Activities included:
- Social media advocacy
- Community sensitization
- A No-Tolerance Walk involving CSOs, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, and the Nigerian Senate
These efforts amplified calls for accountability and safer spaces for women and girls.
Community Outreach and Orphanage Support
Through partnerships with Igelle Ogbu Foundation and Talitha-Cumi, COREDEVINI visited the Salvation of Hope Orphanage Home. Plans were made to extend mentorship programs for boys and girls, focusing on guidance, education, and personal development.
Year-End Celebrations and Welfare Support
At the cooperative end-of-year gathering, members celebrated progress and unity. COREDEVINI also distributed Christmas welfare items including:
- Rice
- Vegetable oil
- Tomato paste
- Seasoning cubes
Members reaffirmed their commitment to savings culture, business growth, and collective development.
